    What is a dedicated server?

In the web hosting business, a dedicated server refers to the exclusive use of a computer that includes a web server, related software and connection to the Internet, housed in the Internet Service Provider’s (ISP’s) data centre. UKFast's servers are called GraphiteRack and guarantee optimum performance as you are not sharing the memory, processor, or bandwidth of your dedicated server with anyone else, the server or servers are devoted solely to your website.

What is the difference between a dedicated server and a shared server?

A dedicated server involves you renting an entire server from a web host. Unlike shared server hosting, dedicated servers give you complete control of the operating system and hosting environment. There is never any need to consult with the hosting company when you want to install new software. You are in control and free to install whatever software you like.
