Clustering solutions for dedicated servers
Clustering is a technology that automatically allows one physical server to take over the responsibilities and the tasks of another physical server that has failed. Two or more nodes work together as one single system to provide a high availability of services for users.
When one server in a cluster experiences a failure, there is a redirection of the resources and the workload is redistributed to another server in the cluster, which means there is no single point of failure.
There is a great reduction of the failover time and there is less of a chance that data will be lost during the event of a system failure. At a time of failure, data does not need to be sent to a backup system, as it is already on both servers.
There is a reduction in the cost factor as it is not necessary to have a separate RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) in each server.
We offer SQL and MySQL clustering solutions.
Benefits of clustering solutions
- There is zero downtime with 100% availability.
- Replication can take place using standard network protocols, over any distance to any location.
- Minimum bandwidth is used.
- There is queued task processing to automatically trigger tasks.
A small software module is installed on each source and target server in database replication. A client application which is very easy-to-use lets the client define which data will be replicated, and where the copies will be stored.
Whilst the source servers are active, the initial mirroring operation can be performed. Once the simple configuration and initial mirroring are completed, operations are automatic and transparent.
The failover module resides on the target (passive) server, and continually monitors the source servers. In the event of a server failure the target server can assume the names and IP addresses of the failed servers (in addition to its original name), and invoke scripts to restart applications.
